RoboShopper integrates directly with Facebook to let you meet other people who are
shopping for the same items as you! It's a great way to talk about the latest gadget, get
advice on what to buy or where to buy it, or simply meet people who are interested in the
same things as you.
In the real world, shopping is often a social activity. You might go shopping with
friends, or meet someone interesting at the store. You might even find a date. Why should
online shopping be any different?
With our system, you have complete control over how you connect with other
people. You can have a group interaction by inviting people to
join a Facebook group, or you can invite people to contact you directly. You can
even set a filter so that only people who meet certain characteristics (based on network,
gender or relationship status) are invited to contact you directly, while others are asked
to participate in a group discussion.
How does it work?
You log into the system and create an invitation. The invitation
includes keywords which specify the product you are interesting in talking about. For
example "ipod" or "powershot SD600" or perhaps the title or artist of
a new music CD or DVD.
Your invitation also specifies how you want people to contact you and includes a short
message from you explaining what you'd like to talk about.
When another person searches on RoboShopper with keywords that match your invitation,
they will see an alert. They can then log into the system and see your invitation.
They can then respond to you based on the choices you made when you set up your
invitation. If you set a filter, then the contact method offered will be different for
different people. For example someone from outside your network could be asked to post in
a group, while a single female/male in your network could be invited to contact you
directly.
What if I'm not a Facebook Member?
Facebook is one of the fastest growing social networks,
with over 20 million members. Joining Facebook is easy and
free: all you need is an email address. Once you join, you can
use RoboShopper's "Meet While you Shop!" feature as well as
all the other great networking features in Facebook. Facebook
makes it easy to connect with people and stay in touch with
your friends, while still giving you control over who can see
your personal information.

login page and then click the "Register for Facebook"
link.
What about Privacy?
RoboShopper integrates directly with Facebook:
All your personal information remains within Facebook and is
protected by your normal Facebook privacy settings. RoboShopper does not
store any of your Facebook data on our server. Only Facebook members can view your invitations (after they log into the
system).
RoboShopper does not display your last name, and will not include a link to your
profile for people who do not match your filter (if you choose to use one).
In other words, only people that you want to be invited to contact you directly (via
a Facebook message) are provided a link to your profile.
